Lighting up our lives.

Omnivox 16³ is a free-standing 21” x 21” x 21” lighting cube that consists of a grid of lights (aka voxels) that is 16 lights wide, 16 lights tall and 16 lights deep. Every one of those 4,096 LEDs is fully addressable and hand soldered onto 16 custom-designed individual circuit boards that sit on a custom acrylic base that we designed and fabricated.

On the surface it appears to be a lighting project, but behind it is a custom-built software suite that runs a series of three-dimensional renderings from ray-tracing to music visualizations to low-resolution video display.

What began as a simple idea at the beginning of the pandemic, turned into a robust, software heavy, interactive passion project that my partner, Callum Hay, and I completed in Summer 2022 and have since publicly exhibited in both Ontario and Québec.
